Results: Science Olympiad Southern Colorado Regional Tournament

NEWS RELEASE
Steven Veatch, Pebble Pup leader, was assisted today by Luke Sattler, a junior member (ESS) of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society at the Science Olympiad Southern Colorado Regional Tournament held at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. They spent the entire day administering and supervising the rocks and minerals test to students from all over the southern part of the state. There were eager students from Gunnison, Gypsum (great town name to come from  for a rock and mineral test), Vail, Pueblo, and many points in between.
We are very pleased to announce the following Science Olympiad, Southern Colorado Regional Tournament winners who just happen to be members of the Pikes Peak Pebble Pups:
SECOND PLACE HIGH SCHOOL SOUTHERN COLORADO TOURNAMENT
  • Caleb Bickel  Lake George Gem and Mineral Club
THIRD PLACE MIDDLE SCHOOL SOUTHERN COLORADO TOURNAMENT
  • Hunter Bickel Lake George Gem and Mineral Club
These two Lake George Gem and  Mineral Club junior members had to compete with a large number of teams and complete a very difficult test.  The Pikes Peak Pebble Pups send our congratulations to Caleb and Hunter!

Welcome! This is the gateway to adventure and discovery

Through this blog pebble pups and junior members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society can access their lessons, work on assignments and projects, and receive details about field trips in the Pikes Peak Region. This Internet program is also suitable for young people who are interested in Earth science but do not live near a rock club or gem and mineral society or for young people anywhere who want a deeper dive into these topics. The only requirement is that all participants must be members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society and must fill out the CSMS membership form (under important websites) and send their registration and membership fee in. Steven Veatch is the senior instructor and will need an email from you with your name, address, phone number, and permission from your parents to participate in this program.
